UL overpaid €5M on homes for postgrad students, causing a predicted €700K deficit and scrutiny from PAC.
The University of Limerick (UL) is under scrutiny for overpaying by €5 million on homes bought for postgraduate students, leading to a predicted €700,000 deficit in the college's next year's accounts. Acting President Prof. Shane Kilcommins has pledged to be "utterly candid" when the university executives appear before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). The Higher Education Authority (HEA) will meet with UL staff members responsible for individual portfolios, and the university aims to improve decision-making, communication, and organizational culture in response to the issues.
