University of Limerick (UL) president, Professor Kerstin Mey, has resigned from her role, effective from September 1, 2024. She will take up a professorship role within the university after her resignation. Mey faced intense pressure following a controversy involving UL's €5.2 million overpayment for 20 student homes in 2022. The university's governance is currently under statutory review by the Higher Education Authority.
