Finnish trade unions temporarily suspend strikes for government negotiations on social security reductions and union rights.

Finnish trade unions announced on Thursday a temporary suspension of ongoing four-week strikes, in order to allow for negotiations with the government. The strikes were called in opposition to the government's plans to reduce social security services and restrict the right to organize industrial action. Finland's government had previously refused to enter talks while the walkouts were in progress.
