Dozens of Queensland farmers oppose the Arrow Energy Surat gas project, a coal seam gas development in southern Queensland backed by multinationals Royal Dutch Shell and PetroChina. They are concerned about the impacts of coal seam gas on their prime agricultural lands. The farmers have signed a "gasfield free" declaration against coal seam gas mining, voicing opposition to it occurring on or under their properties.
