40-year-old British runner Jasmin Paris became the first woman to complete the Barkley Marathons, one of the world's toughest ultramarathons, in Tennessee. Paris finished the 100-mile race with 1 minute and 39 seconds to spare of the 60-hour cut-off. The race, held at Frozen Head State Park, features a 60,000 feet climb and descent. Since its course extension to 100 miles in 1989, only 20 individuals have finished within the 60-hour timeframe.
