Ireland's High Court declares UK "safe third country" designation for asylum seekers unlawful under EU law.
Ireland's High Court has ruled that the country's designation of the UK as a "safe third country" for returning asylum seekers is unlawful under EU law. The decision follows two challenges to the designation, made by Minister for Justice Helen McEntee in response to the UK's exit from the EU. The High Court found the designation to be unlawful due to the absence of certain required provisions.
