Valley County Sheriff, Casey Hurlburt, has been convicted of misdemeanor attempted insurance fraud in a plea bargain, after being accused of falsely reporting the date of a car accident to take advantage of an insurance claim. Hurlburt agreed to surrender his law enforcement license and pay a $1,000 fine, but no jail time was sentenced. The Nebraska Attorney General's office prosecuted the case.
