Unofficial sheriff Grant Coleman sentenced to 5 years in jail for killing surfer Chris Davidson in a one-punch attack.

Grant Coleman, who believed he was the "unofficial sheriff" of a NSW coastal town, has been sentenced to five years in jail for killing surfer Chris "Davo" Davidson in a one-punch attack. Newcastle District Court Judge Peter McGrath jailed Coleman, who has an acquired brain injury from playing rugby league, for five years with a minimum of three years. Coleman attacked Davidson, who had been convicted of indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl in 2017, outside the South West Rocks Country Club in September 2022.
