Algerian officials have criticized TV stations for their content choices during Ramadan, accusing them of not respecting ethical and professional standards and dedicating excessive airtime to advertising. Communications Minister Mohamed Lagab emphasized that the criticism does not equate to censorship. The Authority of Audiovisual Regulations has also called on national television stations to rein in advertising during Ramadan, amidst anticipation of new government regulations on media advertising.
