Romania has started construction on a $2.7 billion NATO facility near the Black Sea, making it the largest NATO base in Europe. The project involves expanding the Romanian Air Force's 57th Air Base Mihail Kogălniceanu, located near Constanța, and will house around 10,000 NATO personnel and their families. The new base will include runways, hangars, housing, a hospital, and schools, as well as support facilities for service personnel's families. The project aims to enhance regional security and facilitate rapid crisis resolution.
