Massive Martian volcano Noctis discovered, 29,600 ft tall, 450 km wide, at Valles Marineris boundary.

Scientists have discovered a massive volcano, Noctis Volcano, on Mars, standing 29,600 feet tall and stretching 450 kilometers wide. Located south of Mars' equator, the volcano's complex geology and location at the boundary of Valles Marineris canyon system make it an attractive target for future exploration. Its potential geologic and biologic history, along with adjacent buried glacier ice, may provide clues about past water activity and even life on Mars.
