BC Hydro switches to energy-based pricing for public EV chargers in June, charging per kWh.
BC Hydro will switch to energy-based pricing for its public EV chargers in June, charging drivers per kilowatt-hour (kWh) instead of time. The British Columbia Utilities Commission has approved the change, which will see drivers pay 34.34 cents/kWh for fast chargers and 28.28 cents/kWh for slower Level 2 chargers. BC Hydro will also introduce an idling fee on fast chargers after a car is fully charged to deter prolonged use.
