Hundreds of Spanish farmers protested in Madrid on Sunday, marching from the Ministry of Ecological Transition to the Ministry of Agriculture in response to proposed EU legislative changes to ease environmental rules under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). This is the fourth demonstration in Madrid since the start of the wider European farm protest movement in mid-January. The farmers, led by their trade union, Union de Uniones, expressed dissatisfaction with the EU's proposed measures, claiming that small and medium-sized farms are struggling with added bureaucracy.
