Hyundai Motor and Kia have sold more than 5 million eco-friendly vehicles globally in the past 15 years, including hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, electric vehicles, and fuel cell electric vehicles. The two companies, South Korea's largest carmakers, reached this milestone in January, with a combined 1.36 million eco-friendly vehicles sold in 2023. Hybrid electric vehicles accounted for 57.8% of total sales, followed by electric vehicles at 30.8%, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles at 10.6%, and fuel cell electric vehicles at 0.8%.
