Nigerian Court of Appeal upholds CCB's refusal to release asset forms of ex-presidents, VPs, and NA principal officers due to unestablished FOI disclosure terms.
The Nigerian Court of Appeal has dismissed appeals seeking the release of asset declaration forms of former Presidents, Vice Presidents, and National Assembly principal officers by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB). The Public and Private Development Centre and the African Centre for Media and Information Literacy filed separate suits against the CCB and its chairman, arguing that the information could be accessed under the Freedom of Information Act. However, the court maintained that until the National Assembly establishes the terms and conditions for such disclosure, the CCB cannot be compelled to release the information through the FOI request.
