Nigerian civil society groups sue over the unconstitutional removal of a tribunal chairman.

Civil society groups and a lawyer in Abuja have filed a lawsuit against Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, Attorney-General Lateef Fagbemi, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio. The plaintiffs argue that the removal of Justice Danladi Umar as Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal was unconstitutional and seek to invalidate the National Assembly's resolution. The case, which questions the legality of the removal process, is set to be heard in January 2025.
