24-year-old North Carolina mother, Mackenzie Katlyn Reed, faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and child abuse after her baby suffocated in her bed, marking her second child to die while co-sleeping. Reed's first child died in a similar incident a year prior. Police found an unconscious infant not breathing at her home and, despite resuscitation attempts, the child died. Reed admitted to falling asleep with the infant in the bed, with her arm on the baby.
