Nissan and Honda plan to cut China production by 30% and 20% respectively due to local EV competition and declining sales.
Nissan and Honda, Japan's two major automakers, are reportedly considering cutting production in China due to intensified competition from local electric vehicle manufacturers such as BYD. Nissan is considering a 30% reduction (equivalent to approximately 500,000 cars a year), while Honda plans a 20% reduction (around 1.2 million vehicles). Both companies have experienced declining sales in China, with Nissan recording a 16.1% drop and Honda a 10% decline in vehicle sales.
