The body of William Irving Monroe III, a former Marine and Vietnam veteran, was discovered in a shallow grave in Pomona Park in 1980. Despite initial identification as 'John Doe #36', new DNA techniques have enabled Putnam County Sheriff's investigators to identify Monroe, giving his family closure.
