Zimbabwe's Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) plans to lower 2023/24 tobacco crop predictions due to El Niño and decreased farmer registrations.
Zimbabwe's Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) plans to revise its tobacco crop predictions downwards for the 2023/24 season due to the El Niño climatic phenomenon and decreased registration of farmers. The initial projection of 260 million kilogrammes may be reduced due to the drop in registrations leading to a decline in production. TIMB aims to increase production by intensifying farmer training and curbing side marketing activities.
