Union Minister Piyush Goyal assures tobacco farmers and industry stakeholders that the Indian government will make all efforts to waive penalties for excess tobacco production. PM Narendra Modi is sensitive towards farmers' issues, and the government will protect farmers' interests, according to Goyal. The minister also promised to address staff shortage in the Tobacco board and increase the period of registration validity from 1 year.
