Sharad Pawar, leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), has accused the BJP-led government of using the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to intimidate opposition leaders before the Lok Sabha elections. According to Pawar, the ED has filed 5,906 cases since 2005, with only 25 cases disposed of -- a disposal rate of 0.42%. The conviction rate, he said, is only 0.40%.
