9 grain cars on a Union Pacific train derailed in Kearney on March 8 at 10:45 p.m. East 27th Street between Avenue N and Grand Avenue will be closed until cleanup work is completed. The derailment caused no injuries and no hazmat involvement, but some grain spilled. Union Pacific spokesman Mike Jaixen said rail operations in the area are not affected. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
