Male office workers at Tokyo's EXEO Group experienced simulated menstrual pain using a VR electrical device called 'Perionoid' to foster empathy for their female colleagues ahead of International Women's Day. The device sends electric signals to stimulate the lower stomach muscle and induce cramping sensations. EXEO aims to create a supportive environment for its predominantly male workforce to better understand and support their female peers, including menstrual leave policies. Japanese companies are required to allow women to take menstrual leave, but there is no mandate for paid leave, and surveys show around half of female workers do not take it.
