A J&K court in Srinagar has sentenced the main accused in the Hawal acid attack case to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 40 lakh on him. The shocking acid attack occurred on February 1, 2022, when the 24-year-old victim was attacked after she rejected a marriage proposal. The court described the case as "brutal and inhuman" and imposed the fine under Section 421 (1) (b) of the CrPC, which can be recovered from the accused's property.
