US Army Sergeant Korbein Schultz, an intelligence analyst, is accused of selling sensitive military information, including potential U.S. military plans in the event of a Taiwan attack, hypersonic weapon documents, and future development studies of U.S. military forces, to China. Schultz faces charges of conspiracy to obtain and disclose national defense information, exporting defense-related data without a license, and bribery of a public official. His alleged co-conspirator, based in Hong Kong, paid Schultz approximately $42,000 in return for the leaked documents and information. If found guilty, Schultz could face up to 65 years in prison and $2.5 million in fines on the federal charges.
