47-year-old Bert Janssen, diagnosed with a serious heart condition at 17, has set a Guinness World Record as the longest-surviving heart transplant patient. Janssen, now 57, underwent transplant surgery in 1984 at Harefield Hospital in England after being referred by Dutch cardiologist Albert Mattart. The life-saving operation was performed by transplant pioneer Magdi Yacoub.
