Japan's FTC warns Nissan for unilaterally reducing payments to subcontractors, violating the Subcontract Law.

Japan's antitrust watchdog, the Fair Trade Commission (FTC), plans to issue a warning to Nissan Motor Co. for unilaterally reducing payments to over 30 subcontracted parts manufacturers. The underpayments, estimated to total about ¥3 billion ($20 million) over several years, violate the Subcontract Law. Nissan has already repaid the subcontractors and is awaiting the final FTC report. The FTC will demand Nissan take measures to prevent a recurrence of the underpayments.
