9 men convicted in 2017 for the murder of Thackoor Boodram may be released in Trinidad and Tobago due to quashed life sentences and a one-third remission for constitutional rights breaches.

9 men convicted in the 2017 murder of Thackoor Boodram, brother of drug kingpin Dole Chadee, may be released in Trinidad and Tobago. The High Court is re-sentencing the group after the Privy Council quashed their life sentences, and they are expected to be released within days due to a one-third remission for breaches of their constitutional rights. The judge did not believe life imprisonment was suitable and allowed for rehabilitation before release.
