The UK Treasury has appointed Clare Lombardelli, the Chief Economist at the OECD, as the Bank of England's (BOE) deputy governor for monetary policy. This marks the first time that there will be more women than men on the BOE's nine-member Monetary Policy Committee. Lombardelli will succeed Ben Broadbent and begin her five-year term in July, joining the committee responsible for setting UK interest rates.
