Cambodia records third newborn Mekong Irrawaddy dolphin in 2021, listed as critically endangered by IUCN.

Cambodia has recorded its third newborn Mekong Irrawaddy dolphin this year, raising the number of newborn calves to three. The latest calf was spotted on Feb. 23 in Kratie province's Chetr Borei district by a team of researchers from the Fisheries Administration and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The Mekong Irrawaddy dolphins are listed as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
