OPW expresses concern over potential destruction at St Stephen's Green during Dublin's €9.5bn MetroLink rail project, involving tree removal and monument relocation.

The Office of Public Works (OPW) is concerned about potential "demolition or destruction" at St Stephen's Green during the construction of Dublin's €9.5 billion MetroLink rail project. The OPW and Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) are at odds over plans for a metro station in the historic park, which would involve removing 64 trees and relocating the Wolfe Tone Monument and Famine Memorial. TII, however, claims the works will not result in the destruction of St Stephen's Green.
