India's Maharashtra FDA accuses McDonald's of using undisclosed cheese analogues, suspends a local outlet's license, and orders menu changes.

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in India has accused McDonald's of using cheese analogues without disclosure, misleading customers into believing they were consuming real cheese in products such as cheese nuggets, cheesy dip, and cheese burgers. In response, the license of a McDonald's outlet in Ahmednagar has been suspended, and the fast-food chain has been ordered to remove the word 'cheese' from its menu items. The FDA is also investigating other fast-food chains for similar practices. McDonald's has denied the use of substitutes and maintains that they only use real, quality cheese in their products.
