Japan's JT-60SA machine experiments with nuclear fusion for a carbon-free, inexhaustible, and safe power source.

Japan's JT-60SA, a doughnut-shaped machine, is being used in experiments at millions of degrees to potentially unlock a carbon-free, inexhaustible, and safe power source for the future: nuclear fusion. This technology, inspired by the Sun and stars, could provide power without greenhouse gases, long-lived nuclear waste, and cover a large landscape. Unlike current nuclear fission, fusion does not use radioactive materials and could generate industrially useful quantities of power.
