Canadian Nuclear Laboratories and the Business Development Bank of Canada's investment arm, BDC Capital, have each invested CAD 10 million in General Fusion, a Canadian-based fusion energy developer. This funding will help advance General Fusion's Magnetized Target Fusion (MTF) technology, targeting clean fusion energy delivery to the grid by the early to mid-2030s. General Fusion's Lawson Machine 26 (LM26) aims to achieve temperatures of over 100 million degrees Celsius and scientific breakeven equivalent. The total public and private investment into General Fusion's LM26 program has reached over CAD 71 million since its launch in 2023.
