Kenyan marathon record-holder dies in car crash.

Kenyan marathon world record-holder Kelvin Kiptum, aged 24, and his Rwandan coach Gervais Hakizimana were tragically killed in a car crash in Kenya on 29 January. Kiptum had set the record for the marathon in under 2 hours, 1 minute at the 2022 Chicago Marathon. He was set to compete at the Rotterdam Marathon in April. The crash occurred on a road between Eldoret and Kaptagat in western Kenya, a high-altitude region known for being a renowned training base for long-distance runners.
