Cape Town introduces a cash-for-power program for households with solar systems, allowing them to sell excess electricity, crediting bills then paying out cash.

The City of Cape Town has introduced a cash-for-power programme that allows households with solar power systems to sell excess electricity to the city. Applications for the initial round will close on 8th March. The programme will also credit households' municipal bills and then pay out cash once the bills have been settled. This initiative follows the city's adopted Energy Strategy, aiming to end loadshedding and promote job-creating economic growth.
