New York State DEC warns against painting squirrels after a man's arrest for trapping and spray-painting them.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an unprecedented warning against painting wild animals, specifically squirrels, following the arrest of a man in the Hudson Valley for trapping and spray-painting them. Mark Kuhn, a 62-year-old man from Putnam County, was charged with three counts of poisoning or attempting to poison animals and is already on probation for an unrelated crime. The DEC's warning aims to prevent similar incidents in the future.
