Mayon Volcano in the Philippines has experienced a phreatic eruption, spewing ash 1,200 meters into the air. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported that the eruption began at 4:37 pm and lasted for 4 minutes and 9 seconds. No ashfall has been reported in the towns of Daraga, Camalig, and Guinobatan. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has advised pilots to avoid flying close to the volcano's summit due to hazardous ash.
