Uganda's Government to Seek Supplementary Budget for Livestock Vaccination.
Uganda's Minister of Agriculture, Frank Tumwebaze, announced that the government is considering a policy reversal to allow farmers to purchase livestock vaccines. The current policy only covers 1.1% of the susceptible domestic animal population due to insufficient budget. The ministry is planning to present a supplementary request to procure 10 million doses to cover affected and high-risk districts. Additionally, the National Agricultural Research Organisation is working on developing a Foot and Mouth Disease vaccine.
