Constance Baker Motley, 1st African American woman to argue before the US Supreme Court & federal judge, is honored with New Haven's 47th Black Heritage Stamp by USPS.

Constance Baker Motley, a native of New Haven, is being honored with the 47th Black Heritage Stamp by the United States Postal Service (USPS). Motley was the first African American woman to argue a case before the U.S. Supreme Court and became a federal judge. Born and raised in New Haven, she went on to have a significant impact on the civil rights movement. The 47th Black Heritage Stamp unveiling ceremony took place at an event hosted by the Greater New Haven NAACP and the USPS.
