Study links poor mental health in college commuter students to higher risk of car crashes.

A study from Florida Atlantic University reveals that poor mental health among college commuter students increases the risk of car crashes. Among 289 students, those with mental health issues, caring for adults, of Hispanic ethnicity, or first-generation students were more likely to be involved in accidents. Researchers suggest that mental health problems may lead to distracted driving, and recommend better mental health services and alternative transportation options on campuses to mitigate risks and costs.
