Botswana and De Beers sign deal to boost Botswana's share of diamond sales from 30% to 50% by 2035.

Botswana and De Beers have finalized a 10-year sales agreement, allowing Botswana to sell 30% of mined diamonds, rising to 50% by 2035. The deal aims to stabilize Botswana's declining diamond revenue, which has fallen from $7 billion to $4.2 billion. The agreement, set to be signed by the end of February, also extends Debswana's mining licenses beyond 2029, securing the sustainability of the diamond industry and economic benefits for Botswana.
