Study shows grizzly bears visiting BC ecotourism sites are less likely to clash with humans downstream.

A new study from British Columbia finds that grizzly bears visiting ecotourism sites along the Atnarko River are less likely to have conflicts with humans in downstream communities. Researchers tracked 118 bears using hair samples and found only one of the 34 bears that visited ecotourism areas later had a human conflict. The study highlights that factors like poor salmon runs and human food sources, such as fruit trees and salmon-cleaning stations, contribute to bear-human conflicts.
