Former "Pizzagate" conspiracist Edgar Welch was fatally shot by police during a 2025 traffic stop in North Carolina.
Edgar Maddison Welch, who stormed a Washington D.C. pizza restaurant in 2016 believing a false "Pizzagate" conspiracy theory about a child sex trafficking ring, was fatally shot by North Carolina police during a traffic stop. Welch, who had served a prison sentence for the 2016 incident, was pulled over for an outstanding warrant and allegedly pointed a gun at officers when they tried to arrest him.
