Authority rejects cattle shipment through Apollo Bay due to Fisherman's Landing concerns.

The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority has rejected a trial shipment of cattle from King Island through Apollo Bay, citing concerns about Fisherman's Landing, where boats would need to be relocated for the shipment to be safe. Bass Strait Freight, which currently ships cattle to Port Welshpool in Gippsland, argues that using Apollo Bay would support local businesses. Farmer groups in Victoria and Tasmania have also called for the shipments to proceed.
