India launches $6.5 million fisheries projects in Guwahati to boost local production and sustainability.

Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh will launch Rs 50 crore worth of fisheries projects in Guwahati on January 5 under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). The initiative aims to make Northeastern India self-sufficient in fish production, promote sustainable practices, and improve livelihoods for fisher communities. The event will also distribute certificates and awards to beneficiaries and include a technical session on the challenges in the region's fisheries sector.
