Nearly 3,500 projects, including 217 bridges, have been completed under India's rural road initiative, PMGSY, in Jammu and Kashmir over the past two decades. The program aims to provide all-weather connectivity to rural areas. Out of 3,742 sanctioned projects, 3,429 have been completed, connecting 2,129 of the 2,140 targeted habitations at a cost of ₹12,650 crore ($1.6 billion). Officials emphasized the need for quality standards and daily monitoring to ensure project success.
