An electric vehicle caused a Chattanooga apartment fire, damaging cars and nearby buildings.

An apartment fire in Chattanooga, Tennessee, caused by an electric vehicle, marked the city's first large-scale incident involving an EV. The Chattanooga Fire Department ruled the fire accidental and electrical. Two other vehicles were damaged, and most cars in the garage suffered heat damage. Smoke damage affected a nearby Portuguese restaurant and apartments above the garage. Seven residents were rescued, and those treated for smoke inhalation have since been released from the hospital.
