Roanoke man fired shot at officers during well-being check; school locked down, suspect in custody.

Roanoke police responded to a well-being check at a home on Avenel Avenue SW Tuesday morning. After officers tried to contact the resident, a shot was fired from inside. The man, later identified as 38-year-old Kevin Vincent Stefanik, eventually surrendered without further incident. No injuries were reported, and nearby Patrick Henry High School was temporarily put on lockdown. Stefanik is now in custody and faces multiple charges related to the incident.
